Full-Time Commercial Credit Analyst - Rochester, MN

Sterling State Bank is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Commercial Credit Analyst.  This position is full-time and is located at our Corporate Office (4200 Badger Hills Drive, NW, Rochester, MN 55901).

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with managing the credit risk and loan quality of the commercial loan portfolio
  • Analyzing financial statements, developing and analyzing cash flow information and preparing comprehensive credit proposal
  • Work with the lending staff in preparing and updating credit files while monitoring credit quality through review of financial information such as tax returns, company financial statements, and collateral values to provide early warning of possible financial deterioration
  • Assist other team members in a collaborative way with sharing best practices and institutional knowledge, leading by example for a positive, cooperative team

Additional Responsibilities include:

  • Examining documents and submitted forms in order to ensure compliance with the required standards of the Bank, checking for any inconsistencies or accuracy issues, and ensuring that loans are in accordance with the Bank’s policy and regulatory guidelines as applicable

Essential Education, Skills and Experience (Required):

  • College degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field or equivalent work experience to include two to three years credit analysis experience along with a solid understanding of financial accounting
  • Strong interpersonal, communication (both written and oral), and customer service skills are a must
  • knowledge of commercial real estate and corporate lending operations and regulations along with strong problem solving and analytical skills are also required

Basic understanding of federal and state laws regarding lending practices are preferred. Ability to work with minimal direction and demonstrate proactive problem-solving skills. Ability to demonstrate effective time management and rapidly changing priorities. Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills.

Working knowledge of MS Office Suite and the technical ability to operate banking software and other general office equipment.

This position is 40 hours per week. Benefits include health care and dental insurance, 401k (with company matching), company-paid life insurance and paid vacation.

Full-Time Business Banking Specialist - Rochester, MN

Sterling State Bank is hiring a Business Banking Specialist.  This position is located in our main corporate office located at 4200 Badger Hills Drive NW, Rochester, MN 55901. 

The Business Banking Specialist role works primarily with the Bank’s commercial business and non-profit customers in our Rochester, MN market. 

Job Description

The Business Banking Specialist helps our Bank continue to serve our business customers and business owners who want a single point of contact for managing both their personal and business banking needs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assists businesses with electronic banking and cash management services. These include online banking, mobile banking, remote check deposit services, positive pay and other risk services, business bill pay, business debit cards, merchant processing and mobile deposit.
  • Works closely with business customers as they add or remove employee access to accounts and access to our electronic banking/risk systems. 

Additional Skills and Experience:

  • Patience, good communication, and a desire to help customers are some of the most important characteristics we are seeking for this role.  Past experience as a banker or a cash management specialist is especially relevant to this role.

Full-Time Commercial Lender - Lakeville, MN / Apple Valley, MN

Sterling State Bank is looking to expand our commercial lending department in both our Lakeville, MN and Apple Valley, MN offices.

Are you a Commercial Lender ready to take the next step in your career? Sterling State Bank is growing and hiring in our Twin Cities markets. Responsibilities include generating new business relationships including consumer and commercial deposit and loan clients, maintaining and enhancing current relationships and new account administration.

Additional responsibilities and skills required include:

  • Responsibility for developing a quality commercial customer portfolio and managing the customer relationship. This also includes underwriting, structuring and closing loans and achieving sales objectives.
  • A willingness to participate in marketing strategy for commercial loan origination as needed.
  • Preparing loan packages that meet the Bank's underwriting standards.
  • Monitoring and managing delinquent credits in the portfolio.
  • Developing business and community relationships and participating in community activities and organizations to increase the Bank's visibility.
  • Recognizing opportunities and making referrals for other banking services and products.

Ideal candidates will possess some of the following experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a business-related field is preferred.
  • Previous commercial lending experience is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years' commercial lending experience is preferred.
  • Effective sales ability and persuasiveness
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in bank information systems and standard business software.

Part-Time Teller - Lakeville, MN

Sterling State Bank is hiring a Part Time Teller (25-30 hours per week, from Noon until 5:45 p.m., M-F) for our office located in Lakeville, MN.  Tellers are the friendly face of the Bank to so many of our wonderful customers.  We’re seeking an applicant who enjoys providing great customer service while making each customer feel welcomed in our Bank branch.  Professional standards of accuracy, privacy and attention to detail are important for this position. 

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Processing customer transactions which include deposits, payments, transfers. change orders and currency processing
